If you suspect termites, do not disturb them!

If you suspect that you have live termites, or have just put your hand through a door frame and are thinking the worst - the most important thing to do is make sure you do not disturb or investigate the area (or termites) further.  This includes spraying the area with household products. Regardless of your concerns or curiosity, the most important thing to do is leave everything alone and contact a licenced pest controller.

When termites are disturbed they will 'go to ground' making direct eradication and identification of the species difficult or impossible.

A timber pest inspection can still be completed if you have disturbed the area.  In fact it is strongly recommended, as there maybe other termites nesting within other areas, or there may be concealed access points and conditions that are attracting or encouraging termites into your home.

If you have disturbed the termites the best thing to do is to contact a licenced pest controller and arrange for a Timber Pest Inspection to be completed.
